Town Board Meeting – Organizational Meeting – held January 3, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. at the Town Hall, Schroon Lake, NY

The meeting was called to order at 7:01 p.m.

 

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION

 

Larry Phillips handed out a topic survey on the A.P.A. Local Govt. Day Conference to be

 

held March 25th and 26th.

 

RESOLUTIONS

 

  1. Day and time of the monthly Town Board meeting shall be the second Monday of each month at 7 PM unless otherwise advertised.

 

  1. Legal Newspaper – Times of Ti, Daily Glens Falls Post Star and The Press Republican

 

  1. Official Depository – Glens Falls National Bank and any other NYS bank for investments

 

  1. Sewer and Water Tax Collector – Patty Savarie

 

  1. Auto expenses for Town employees $.445 per mile

 

  1. Budget Officer – Supervisor Moses

 

  1. Health Officer – HHHN – Hourly as needed

 

  1. Register of Vital Statistics – Patty Savarie/ Deputies – Betsi Calhoun and Denise Paradis

  1. Maximum of $1000 for small tools and implements for the Highway Department without prior Town Board approval.

Legal Holidays for Town employees – New Years Day, Martin Luther King Jr., Day, President’s Day, Good Friday*, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, General Election Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day and Friday after, and Christmas Day (day after only if it falls on a scheduled workday). 

[*Transfer Station employees will observe Easter Sunday as a holiday in lieu of the Good Friday holiday.]

  1.  Supervisor Moses moved a resolution to Rescind December 10th resolution re: Building Inspector II position seconded by Councilwoman Phibbs, Councilman Sage abstained; carried.

 

  1. Councilman Sage moved a resolution to consider increase from $11.22 to $12.60 for William Jenks seconded by Councilman Friedman; carried.

 

  1. Councilman Friedman  moved a resolution to have the tanks at the highway garage cleaned annually seconded by Councilman Sage ;carried

 

Councilman Friedman moved a resolution to approve the Organizational Resolutions 1-60,

 

seconded by Councilman Whitney Councilwoman Phibbs abstained on item #49; carried.

 

Supervisor Moses suggested they do a 2-3 year contract for the concession stand at the Golf

 

Course and do a service agreement.

 

Supervisor Moses also would like to set a date for Dog Control Ordnance,

 

Workshop with the attorney with the dates Jan.15 or 22 were discussed. Supervisor Moses

 

will be in touch with the attorney to see which dates work and the meeting will be noticed.

 

Councilman Sage would like to see what prevailing wages are at for contractors and would

 

like to keep them at a minimum for electricians. Supervisor Moses will get a copy to each

 

board member.

 

Supervisor Moses stated that a seconded round of interviews for Building Inspector III had

 

been held prior to the organizational meeting and the board would like more time to think

 

about it.  A workshop for Jan. 15th 2008 at 1:00 p.m. was scheduled.

 

PUBLIC COMMENT

 

Bruce Caza congratulated Supervisor Moses on her appointment as Chair to the Essex

 

County Board of Supervisors. He also had concerns about the Golf Course Concession stand

 

going to a 2-3 year contract. He offered his services to sit on the I.D.A.committee for

 

affordable housing if they needed a representative from our town.

 

Betty Spangel wanted to know the hours for the ski tow. There was much discussion on the

 

ski tow and how we could all make it  a better facility.

 

Councilwoman Phibbs moved a resolution to adjourn the meeting at 8:25 p.m., seconded by

 

Councilman Sage; carried.
