Time Warner Cable

John Mucha, Director of Government Relations from Time Warner Cable, addressed the Town Board.  John talked about the past, present and future plans for the town.  The 1998 Franchise agreement with the Town of Schroon expires Aug. 18, 2008. Renewal requires a Public Hearing and resolution by the Town Board. On May 21, 2008, Time Warner Cable and Time Warner Inc. announced an agreement to separate the two companies by the end of 2008.  The transaction will not affect Time Warner Cable operations, only the number of shareholders and who those shareholders are.  The transaction will not affect employees’ day-to-day jobs or have a direct impact on customers.  The company name will not change; the headquarters will remain in N.Y.C.   The Cable Plan Extensions for the Town of Schroon is as follows.  Miller Road./ French Road- 14 passings, .62 miles, 22.6  homes per mile. Their preliminary engineering indicates that it qualifies.  Bay Road, South Schroon – 13 passings, .65 miles, 20 homes per mile. Their preliminary engineering indicates that it qualifies.  East Shore Road – 210 passings, 8.94 miles, 23.5 homes per mile. Their preliminary engineering indicates that it qualifies.  The next three areas are still in negotiations and we expect to resolve the outstanding after we can come to an understanding on the measurement requirements for the actual “as to be built” extensions.  Paradox/ Shore Road – 49 passings, 3.3 miles, 13.2 homes per mile.  Their preliminary engineering indicates that it does not qualify.  Paradox Lake/ Rt. 74/Letsonville/ Fraternaland- 98 passings, 14.8 homes per mile.  Their preliminary engineering indicates that it does not qualify.  (This survey does not include any private drives/ roads off Rt. 74).  Hoffman Road – 127 passings, 10.3 miles, 12.3 homes per mile. Their preliminary engineering indicates that it does not qualify.  Councilman Whitney moved to adjourn the meeting at 6:40P.M. thanking John Mucha for coming up for the presentation, seconded by Councilman Marnell; carried.
