Special Town Board Meeting

 June 19,2008 at 5:00 P.M. at the Town Hall in Schroon Lake N.Y.

PRESENT:

            Supervisor Moses called the Workshop to order at 5:00 P.M. with the Pledge to the Flag.

Resolution #157 Request for Proposal on Space Needs

            There were five firms that gave Request for Proposal to the Town of Schroon Town Hall for Architectural Engineering Fees.

1. S.D. Atelier   $13,000 - !6,000.                         

2. Bernier Carr  $11,462 Travel reimburse IRS ratio

3. Barton and Loguidice  $8,000 – 12,000. ReimburseExpenses $1000 – 2,000. Testing $3,400-4,200. 

4. C.T. Male  No Total Cost   

5. A.E.S. $10,000 and reimbursements not estimated.

There was much discussion and the Board felt very confident in S.D. Atelier. Councilman Marnell moved a resolution to accept S.D. Atelier for request for proposal on space needs, seconded by Councilman Whitney; carried.

Resolution #158 Clough Harbor Airport Grant

                 Councilman Marnell moved a resolution to authorize Supervisor Moses to sign the Clough Harbor Airport Grant Contract, seconded by Councilman Friedman; carried.

Airport Fees

            The following fees were approved by the Board as follows:

Hanger $250 a month per plane includes one parking space, Tie Downs $30 and Parking $5 a day.

Resolution #159 Sand Bids

            Councilman Whitney moved a resolution to accept Larry Kollers bid for 3.90 per yard with trucking to be done by the Town of Schroon, seconded by Councilwoman Phibbs, Councilman Friedman - opposed; carried.

Resolution # 160 Sidewalk Request from Beautification Committee

            Councilman Whitney moved a resolution to put sidewalks in from the Beach Rd. to Leland Ave. and if possible use Grant money for this project, seconded by Councilman Marnell; carried.

Resolution #161  Library Employee

            Councilman Friedman moved a resolution to hire Jessica Botterbucsh as a year round part time employee at the rate of $9.22 an hour, seconded by Councilman Whitney; carried.

Resolution # 162  McVoy Water and Sewer Hookup

            Councilman Friedman moved a resolution to approve Gary and Elaine McVoy for a Water and Sewer hookup located at Pharoah Dr. in the Town of Schroon, seconded by Councilman Whitney; carried.

            Councilwoman Phibbs thought we should be thinking about hiring someone full time who could do plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry and care for all the Town Buildings. She also stated that we need to advertise for the Hanger rentals and it was suggested that we contact other local Airports and Flying Clubs.

            Councilman Marnell suggested we go ahead and get quotes for sealing the Town Hall Parking lot and Health Center if we have enough in our budget.

            Howard Lashway stated with proper planning we could use our space more wisely in the Town Hall.  He had gone through the Town Hall and measured all the rooms and stated there was a lot of wasted space.

            Councilwoman Phibbs moved to adjourn at 6:47 P.M., seconded by Councilman Whitney; carried.
